I may be mistaken, but look at the panel gap between the front fender (right side) and the hood. And if you check it out, look at the paint to see if it matches, and check the paint in the door jambs. The respray is likely due to an accident. And the engine has 1000 miles, but what about the rest of the car? Almost certainly CP.

And that engine bay is suspiciously clean, possibly freshly painted. Even steam cleaning doesn't do that. Sure I'm risk averse, but something is wrong here.

He mentions in the ad that the whole car has recently been repainted in its original color.

Whoa whoa whoa whoa ... there's fargin big difference between a COROLLA and a CELICA (especially if it's a Celica SUPRA) ... so just what the FACK is this?

"in it's original color ..." Red flag. Also, when you repaint a car like that, you don't strip out everything and do the engine compartment, the whole body. I am suspicious by nature, sure, but as I said - there is something wrong here.

At this price you can't go wrong really...
If the car was crap he wouldn't have done a rebuild of the engine to sell it for this cheap soon after...
For 6k$, go get it if you can afford it :)

A carbed 4A-G is great, but that setup would loose so much power over EFI. Only with good side drafts and some cams can a carbed 4A outshine it's EFI roots. That almost looks like a 4A-F setup. Or a 4A-GZE manifold with a carb slapped on.

It's quite modified. Carb conversion.

Well he did rebuild the engine also 1000 miles ago... My guess is that while rebuilding the engine he repainted the whole car since the engine was out.
I would have certainly done the same thing...
And as I said, if there was a problem with the car, what would be the point of rebuilding and repainting it, only to sell it 6000$? The whole thing probably cost him 4000$ and getting rid of the car with the old paint and un-rebuilt engine would have easily earned him 2000$ if not more...
I think he did that like 1 or 2 years ago and simply doesn't drive the car anymore... Therefore he wants to get rid of it.
The fact that the interior looks really clean and well taken care off is quite a big point too...

One of us Florida should go see/drive the thing. I can't - way north of Orlando. It's just that anything that old and that clean spooks me. It might be as advertised, but I'd want confirmation before I made an offer.

oh yes obviously I would never buy something liek that unseen... But it seems really ok to me at first sight. I really think it's just a guy who did the restoration 1 or 2 years ago and just doesn't use the car.
When someone gives a restoration date in miles instead of years or months, it often means the car has been sitting quite a bit :)
Other than that, I'm pretty sure this one is ok.

If you're close enough, go see it. Drive it. And take a mechanic. Let me know what happens.

I don't think I can be any further from it :)
